CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)—Chattanooga Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a Dodds Avenue hit-and-run that sent a nine-year-old to the hospital.
Police Spokesperson Jerri Weary says the suspect, identified as "John Doe", faces charges for striking the boy as he made his way across Dodds Avenue on a bicycle Friday afternoon.
Weary says the driver left the scene, dragging the victim's bike along with him.
The boy was taken to Erlanger for injuries to his back and shoulders.
The suspect is charged with driving without a drivers license / expired license, leaving the scene of an accident with death or personal injury, failure to render aid, failure to report the accident, and financial responsibility.
Weary says police are working to confirm the suspect's name and will release it once it becomes available.
