UPDATED: Aquarium worker shot while driving home
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Police are looking for two men they say shot an elderly man who was driving home from his job at the Tennessee Aquarium.
Officers say 70-year-old John Queen Ingraham was on his way to Sam's Club when he got off of Interstate 24 at the 4th Avenue exit to avoid traffic.
Ingraham tells investigators he was driving down Bennett Avenue when two men who appeared to be doing tree work flagged him down.
As Ingraham stopped, one of the suspects tried to open his car door. Ingraham tells officers he tried to drive away when the second suspect shot him in the abdomen.
Ingraham was able to drive himself to Parkridge Hospital and was transferred to Erlanger Medical Center.
Ingraham was treated and released.
Police say the suspects are described only as two black males, one wearing shorts and the other wearing blue jeans. Investigators are still working on leads in the case and no arrests have been made.
