Golf Notes: Jacobson leads Chattanooga Open

Nashville's Jacobson leads Templeton
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) --
Nashville amateur Andrew Jacobson fired a 5-under 65 Monday to grab the first-round lead at the 36th annual Ira Templeton Chattanooga Open at Creeks Bend Golf Club.

Jacobson carded a 4-under 32 on the back nine alone to open a one-shot lead over Chattanooga's Matt Robertson and a two-shot advantage over Chattanooga's Jimmy Pierce. Both local players are also amateurs.

Athens' native Mike Poe is the first-round leader in the Senior Division after a 4-under 66.

The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.

Scott, McCravey share senior medalist honors at TN Women's Am
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WRCB) --
Charleston's Maggie Scott and Chattanooga's Georgia McCravey each shot 8-over 78 Monday to share senior medalist honors in the stroke play portion of the 71st Tennessee Women's Amateur Championship at Blackthorne Club.

The duo advanced to the 32-player championship flight of match play. Scott will face Knoxville's Jillian Corum in Tuesday's first round, while McCravey will face Johnson City's Allison Woodward.

Jefferson City's Kendall Martindale won overall medalist honors with a 2-under 70. The three-time state amateur champ will be the No. 2 seed in Tuesday's match play behind top-seeded Calle Nielson, who was exempt from match play as the defending champ.

Chattanooga's Jordan Britt, Soddy-Daisy's Haley Cothran and Cleveland's Linda Mullins also qualified for the championship flight. Britt is the No. 3 seed in the field after finishing runner-up to Martindale in stroke play with a 2-over 72.

Britt will face Mullins in Tuesday's first round, while Cothran will play Clarksville's Alex Jasper.
