UPDATED: Storm Alert 3 Team monitoring weekend weather

Posted: Updated:

Just a slight chance of showers/t-storms remains through the overnight hours. A weak cold front, combined with plenty of moisture and daytime heating, will produce scattered thunderstorms Sunday. A few storms could become severe with large hail, damaging winds, brief heavy rain, and abundant lightning. Storms should end Sunday evening.

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- The Storm Alert 3 Team is monitoring the possibility of severe weather passing through the Tennessee Valley.

Scattered thunderstorms, capable of producing dangerous lightning and brief heavy rain, are still a possibility for the viewing area throughout the remainder of the afternoon.

One or two may be severe, and produce large hail and/or damaging winds.

Isolated storms may also linger in a few spots Saturday night as a cold front approaches overnight and into Sunday.
