NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The state Legislature has adjourned. The 108th session included the passing of a $32.4 billion spending plan that doesn't give pay increases to state employees and teachers. Other measures passed include allowing wine sales in grocery stores, fighting meth production and giving high school grads free tuition at community colleges.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee could electrocute death row inmates if lethal injection drugs are unavailable under legislation headed for Gov. Haslam's desk. The legislation keeps lethal injection as the preferred method for executions, but allows the electric chair as an option. There are 76 inmates on Tennessee's death row.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A special investigative team of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is on its way to Tennessee after an ammunition plant explosion. It's bringing in heavy equipment to stabilize the walls. Once the building is stabilized, the ATF's National Response Team will begin its investigation.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Previously unreleased recordings of country music legend Hank Williams are coming out next month for download and on vinyl. "The Garden Spot Programs, 1950" features 24 songs and jingles from a taped show that aired on early country radio stations.
