NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A man wanted on charges of murder and robbery in Nashville has been captured in Gulfport, Mississippi. Nashville police say the U.S. Marshal's Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force found 24-year-old Javon Spivey on Friday after getting a tip from Nashville Crime Stoppers.
GRAY, Tenn. (AP) - The remains of dozens of poisonous snakes confiscated from a Tennessee preacher have been sent to a museum for research. The 53 frozen carcasses were given to East Tennessee State University's Natural History Museum at Gray. The museum is planning to use their bones for scientific study.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Country singer Lynn Anderson has been released from jail in Nashville after being charged with drunken driving. Police arrested Anderson after she was involved in a crash Thursday evening. The responding officer says she showed "signs of impairment," according to her arrest warrant.
FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) - Archaeologists are hoping to uncover evidence from the Battle of Franklin ahead of the clash's 150th anniversary this November. Preservationists have worked for years to purchase the property behind a pizza restaurant and strip mall where Confederate troops and Union forces opened fire on Nov. 30, 1864. Excavation work will continue through Sept. 19.
