CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – A Chattanooga man is facing homicide charges after a domestic argument turned deadly Tuesday night.

Forty-nine-year-old Michael Crumpton was arrested late Tuesday.

Officers say they found a 42-year-old woman unresponsive at an apartment at 4931 Woodland view Circle after neighbors reported a disturbance.

The woman, who has not yet been identified by police, was taken to Erlanger Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators say Crumpton and the woman argued over grease spilled while cooking. Police say Crumpton began choking and punching the woman and that the woman died as a result of those injuries. A medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

Crumpton is charged with criminal homicide. Police say they will release the name of the victim once the family of the victim has been notified.
