Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee's Main Street Program is hosting multiple summer events across the state.

The state-supported project is a downtown revitalization program in which Tennessee officials offer technical aid and guidance to promote economic growth through the activities.

The events include downtown festivals, parades, barbecue cook-offs, art camps, a Scopes festival, classic car cruise-ins and related activities.

Some of the towns participating are Bristol, Cleveland, Collierville, Columbia, Dayton, Dyersburg, Gallatin, Lawrenceburg, McMinnville, Morristown, Murfreesboro, Rogersville, Savannah and Tiptonville.

Bill Hagerty, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, said the program is to refocus attention on businesses and neighborhoods in the heart of communities.
