CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Road crews will be taking a break from weekend bridge repairs on Interstate 24 this weekend.

TDOT spokesperson Jennifer Flynn says there aren't enough deck repairs on I-24 in Hamilton County this weekend to justify a full weekend of lane closures. So TDOT says they'll skip the construction this weekend.

Work will resume on Sunday night, June 5 in the westbound lanes at Rossville Blvd. and Central Ave. where the contractor will mill the bridges to remove the remaining asphalt overlays.

The contractor has begun a resurfacing project on I-24 between mile markers 177 - 183 in and around downtown Chattanooga.  The project includes partial and full depth concrete repairs to the roadway, as well as bridge deck repairs.

TDOT has also promised to halt interstate construction this month during the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester and the Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga.
