Searchers trying to recover GA plane crash bodies
ELLIJAY, GA. (AP) - The Gilmer County coroner says a search team is attempting to recover the bodies of 4 people killed when their sightseeing plane crashed atop a mountain.
Coroner Jerry Hensley said Thursday the names of those killed have not been released.
The group was on the flight after someone won the trip as a door prize at Gilmer County High School's class of 1961 reunion.
Maj. Paige Joyner of the Civil Air Patrol says crews discovered the bodies Wednesday night after lowering a searcher from a helicopter to reach the site on Rich Mountain.
The plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, was reported missing Monday. 3 of the occupants were from north Georgia and the fourth was from Ohio.
Joyner says the crash site was spotted by a Georgia State Patrol helicopter Wednesday.
