CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Blood Assurance is trying to find a bone marrow match for a local woman recently diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia.

Meredith Hobbs Arp, 26, graduated in 2003 from Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga. She earned a degree from the University of Tennessee in 2008 and is currently a graduate student at UT-Chattanooga. She married Matthew Arp in August 2010.

Meredith felt ill in late 2010 and noticed bruising on her body in March 2011. After several tests, she was diagnozed two months later. Meredith needs a marrow transplant and none of her siblings is a match.

Blood Assurance is looking for people to be on the marrow transplant registry to give Meredith and people like her a second chance at life. Donors need to be between the ages of 18 and 60, be willing to donate to any patient in need, and meet the health guidelines.

A registry information event will be held Wednesday, June 1 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 8431 East Brainerd Road in Chattanooga.
