UPDATED: Firefighters find meth materials in house fire
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Fire crews and Police are investigating a fire on 14th Avenue.
The Chattanooga Fire Department battled a blaze at a home at 4309 14th Avenue.
Firefighters from Station 9 were the first on the scene and found no one inside after conducting a quick search.
Battalion Chief Phil Hyman said the firefighters worked quickly to contain most of the fire damage to one room, though there was smoke and water damage to the rest of the house.
While fire investigators were examining the fire scene, they found evidence of materials commonly used in the production of methamphetamine. The scene was then secured and the narcotics division with the Chattanooga Police Department was notified.
The cause is under investigation.
