CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) --Police are investigating the morning robbery of a Subway restaurant.

The Subway Restaurant located at 2209 East 23rd street was robbed just after 9 Wednesday morning.

According to a store employee, a dark skinned black make dressed in all black entered the store posing as a customer. He ordered a sandwich but soon after pulled a gun on the employee and demanded she open the store safe.

The employee tried to run out of the back of the store but was caught before she could get away. The suspect then brought her back in to the store and again ordered her to open the safe however, while doing so, he fired a shot into the wall.

After he got the deposit bag, the suspect fled on foot across E. 23rd Street.

Police saturated the area and brought in a K-9 unit to search for the suspect but was unable to locate him.

The suspect was described as a black male about 5'10, in his mid 20s, wearing all black, dark shades, and a black head wrap.

Surveillance video of the incident is under review for the investigation but if anyone has information on this incident they are asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.
