Chattanooga lawyer disbarred
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)—A Chattanooga lawyer was disbarred by the Tennessee Supreme Court Thursday.
According to a court release, a hearing panel concluded Charles E. Stanbery, Jr. collected legal fees while suspended from law practice.
The release also states Stanbery failed to communicate with clients or diligently pursue their cases.
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee also found the local attorney in contempt. Stanbery was given the chance to eliminate the charge, but failed to appear in court.
In addition to the disbarment, Stanbery was ordered to pay restitution to 11 former clients.
