UPDATE 2: Police identify man found dead on railroad tracks
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Chattanooga Police are investigating a fatal accident Monday morning.
Traffic Investigator Joe Warren says a man was traveling south on I-75 when his truck left the road, went airborne, hit an embankment, and landed across the railroad tracks near the three mile marker.
Chattanooga Police spokesperson Jerri Weary later identified the man as 55-year-old Edward B. Debusk of Knoxville.
Debusk was ejected from the truck and found dead on the scene.
According to a family member, Mr. Debusk was en route to a job in Bridgeport, AL and had last contacted them at 4:00 am, stating he would likely pull over to rest because he wasn't feeling.
Warren says an employee of CSX, a train company, called and reported the accident, but no other witnesses have come forward.
Investigators now believe the accident occurred between the morning hours of 4:00 and 6:45, and possibly due to a medical emergency.
The actual cause of death is still under investigation pending the medical examiner's report.
