6 seriously injured in I-24 crash

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- A car accident on I-24 Friday night sends six to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police say around 11:15 pm a Ford Taurus was hit in the rear by a Dodge van, which sent the car into a tractor trailer and entrapped some of the passengers.

By the time police arrived, six patients, five from the Taurus and the driver of the Dodge, had been taken to the hospital with serious injuries, with at least one being life-threatening.

Witnesses told police the van, driven by 56-year-old Dandy Dunn, crossed all lanes of traffic from the far right lane, and then crossed back into the center lane where the Taurus was stopped.

Dunn was driving on a revoked driver's license for a prior DUI.

It is believed that speed and alcohol are factors in this crash and warrants have been filed against Dunn.
