Woman killed by horse riding accident
DEKALB COUNTY, AL. (WRCB)-- A Florida woman is killed Saturday while riding horses with family in Alabama.
DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris says the horse 65-year-old Kristine Burley Jones was riding cut his leg while she was making her way around a downed tree in the woods.
Mrs. Jones fell from the horse, and was instantly killed when her head hit the tree.
Her family carried her back to the trailhead where she was pronounced dead by the coroner and EMS.
Sheriff Harris says this is a tragic accident for the family in town from Plantation, Florida for a wedding.
Jones and those riding with her were all experienced riders.
