LIVELINES: EAR PROBLEMS

 As we head into the unofficial start of summer.. more and more people are getting ready to hit the pool. And while spending all day in the water can be lots of fun, it can also lead to a common condition known as swimmer's ear.
  Dr. Todd Fowler an E.N.T. was our guest this morning.
We discussed some of the warning signs to look for.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
• Sensation that the ear is blocked or full

• Drainage

• Fever

• Decreased hearing

• Intense pain that may radiate to the neck, face, or side of the head

• Swollen lymph nodes around the ear or in the  upper neck. Redness and swelling   

If left untreated, serious complications could occur.

*Hearing loss. When the infection clears up, hearing usually returns to normal.

*Recurring ear infections

*Bone and cartilage damage
