CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – County commissioners have voted to purchase the David Brainerd School.
The commission agreed to pay $3.55 million for the purchase of the property.
In the short term, commissioners said the school could be used for East Brainerd's fourth and fifth graders to alleviate overcrowding at the school.
In the future, commissioners say the property could house a new East Brainerd Elementary, but that could be two or more years away from becoming a reality.
Commissioners voted eight to zero, with Commissioner Fields abstaining from the vote.
