Hundreds attend David Carroll book signing

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)--  Channel 3 News anchor David Carroll says he "was overwhelmed by the turnout" at  Northgate Mall Saturday for a book signing session.

He was joined by Chattanooga broadcast legends Luther Masingill and Marcia Kling, who are among the longest-running personalities in the market.

They signed hundreds of copies of Chattanooga Radio and Television, written by David.

The book features hundreds of photos of local television and radio personalities, including Luther, "Miss Marcia," Dr. Shock, Harry Thornton, Mort Lloyd, Debbie Baer.  The book also covers many of today's top personalities such as Cindy Sexton, Paul Barys, Jed Mescon, LaTrice Currie, Bob Johnson and Neal Pascal.

In an interview with Channel 3 host Ken Nicholson, David said one of his favorite pictures in the book is of Luther, taken in 1951 while he was "campaigning" for mayor of Chattanooga.  Although Luther was only joking, so many potential voters were planning to write in his name, that the actual candidates pleaded with him to take a full-page ad in the newspaper to let everyone know he didn't really want to be mayor!

Proceeds from Saturday's autograph session will go to Hospice of Chattanooga.  More information on the book and how to order, is available at www.chattanoogaradiotv.com
