Bond set for accused snake handler

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- The man charged in a fatal snake bite investigation, was booked in the jail Monday.

Wildlife agents charged Chuck Hurd with 48-counts last week involving illegal possession of reptiles.

He was released on his own recognizance, and appeared before Judge Christie Sell.

She set his bond at $10,000, and Hurd was taken to jail.

Last weekend, Wade Westbrook was bitten by a copperhead snake and died from anaphylactic shock.

Hurd told Eyewitness News, he did not give the snake to Westbrook, as accused by Wildlife agents.
