LAFAYETTE, WALKER COUNTY (WRCB) – A suspicious device and a threatening message forced the evacuation of LaFayette High School Friday.

Administrators found the threat and the device in the boys restroom at the high school.

Walker County Sheriff's deputies and the LaFayette Police Department bomb squad swept the building and declared the school safe.

Police and school officials are taking this threat seriously and asking for anyone with information about this incident to contact the LaFayette Department of Public Safety at 706-639-1540. You can also email information to School Resource Officer Billy Mullis at
