LIVELINES: PET CALLS

Most people see their pets as part of the family, giving them a hug, a kiss, even letting them sleep in their bed. But a recent report raised some health concerns about why having your pet in the bed with you may not be a good idea.
Dr. Randy Hammon from Northgate Animal Hospital was our guest this morning.
He talked about the following concerns that have been raised in the study..
-rare, but possible zoonotic diseases
-veterinary recommendations for flea control
-veterinary recommendations for intestinal worm control
-benefits from the human animal bond
Bottom line, Dr. Hammon says it is important to take your pet to the vet for regular visits and keep them current on medications for problems such as fleas, ticks, and heart worms.
