Publix issues ice cream recall

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Publix has issued a recall on certain flavors of ice cream due to mix-matched packaging.

Publix Premium Light Tiramisu Ice Cream product may contain Publix Premium Coffee Almond Fudge Light Ice Cream, resulting in the presence of unlisted almonds.

Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black says those with allergies or severe sensitivity to almonds run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the product.

The recall affects five states, including Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.

The product UPS is 41415- 13343. The product lot code, which can be found on the bottom of the ice cream carton, is ‘Sep 12 2011 B7 PLT 12-444.'

The product packaging features a Publix Premium Light Tiramisu Ice Cream carton and a Publix Premium Coffee Almond Fudge Light Ice Cream lid.
