Food drive for your neighbors

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - When a national television network comes to the Chattanooga area, your neighbors in need will benefit with a special food drive.

Channel 3 has been collecting food for more than 25 years through our annual Share Your Christmas food drive.

The organizers of the extreme home makeover have organized a special food drive. They've joined with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to collect non-perishable food items to stock the shelves and provide much needed resources to our neighbors in need.

Simply bring your donations to the Big Hearts Rally on February 3rd or fill-up the containers located within the designated spectators area at the build site. Together we can make a difference in the lives of so many local families!

In 2009, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank distributed 8.8 million pounds of food to residents and agencies in our 20-county service area. The service area covers 11 counties in southeast Tennessee and 9 counties in northwest Georgia. The Food Bank's mission of "bridging the gap between America's food bounty and those who cannot provide for themselves" would not be possible without the strong support of our local community. From corporate donors to individuals in the community who give their time, talents and financial contributions, it is the sum of the efforts that helps the Food Bank provide for 20,000 people in our area each week. For more information about the Food Bank, please visit their website at chattfoodbank.org.
