CHATTANOOGA. (WRCB) - A weakening winter storm that dropped up to three inches of snow in parts of West and Middle Tennessee moved through the Channel 3 viewing area with mostly lesser fanfare.

However, parts of Grundy and Cumberland counties reported two inches of the white stuff with minor accumulations falling on Lookout and Signal Mountains.

Also, black ice has been spotted in areas of North Georgia so please drive cautiously.

This winter system gained speed as it approached the Tennessee Valley and was to our east before daybreak.

In the wake of the storm, breezy and cold conditions will prevail Friday with highs in the 30s and wind chills in the teens and 20s.  Dress warmly!

Weather will remain dry but chilly this weekend.
