DETROIT, Mich. (WRCB) - The North American International Auto Show is truly a feast for the senses, no matter your preference of make, model or color.

As we wait for the official reveal of the US Passat, we roam around the Cobo Center and take in each automaker's exhibit.  A gaggle of international journalists moves en masse from press conference to press conference.  They number in the hundreds and began their morning hanging on every word of representatives from Porsche.  Cue the strobe lights and fog machine, a wall opened and out rolled a new race car. Silver and orange was the bold paint scheme.

A few hundred pictures are snapped, interviews with the corporate leaders are wrapped and the mess of microphones, cameras, lights and notepads wanders to the next introduction.

The crowd is a study in diversity. The languages, accents and styles are as numerous and varied as the flags of the United Nations.  Wandering around the sleek sports cars and stately sedans are attractive women in short skirts and stilettos and fashionable men in expensive suits, wearing square rimmed glasses with scarves tied tightly around their necks.  It's a specific subculture around these expensive machines (starting prices from about a hundred thousand dollars to "pricing on request") and now, thanks to Volkswagen, Chattanooga is part of that world.

The Passat will be unveiled at 10:45 press conference.  Channel 3 will carry it LIVE in a special report.
