UNION COUNTY, GA (WRCB) - It could be as early as Monday when North Georgia authorities identify remains found over the weekend.

Union County Sheriff's Office tells Channel 3, partial human remains were found Saturday.

A civilian found the skeletal remains and called authorities.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agents and forensic anthropologists were on the scene again Sunday.

According to a GBI spokesperson, agents are looking into the possibility the remains are that of 38 year-old Kristi Cornwell.

Cornwell, a Blairsville resident, disappeared in August 2009. Her family set up a website with details.

The remains were found just nine miles from where Cornwell was last seen. Cornwell is the only reported missing person in Union County.

"You start with what you know," GBI spokesperson, John Bankhead told reporters in Atlanta, "right now we know there is one missing person so they will start there first."

The body was taken to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta and will be analyzed Monday.
