Brown Ferry nuclear plant shutdown again

Posted: Updated:

ATHENS, AL. (WRCB)-- A North Alabama nuclear power plant has been unexpectedly shutdown for a third time this year.

Sunday, TVA workers noticed unusual vibrating at Brown Ferry's third unit.

They lowered the output of the nuclear reactor.  When the vibrating continued, operators shutdown the equipment.

As of now, there's no word on when the unit will return to service.

The plant also shut down units in June and August.
