By David Carroll
JASPER, TN (WRCB)- Kennedy Griffith of Marion County has been chosen to represent Tennessee in 2011 for the Children's Miracle Network. Kennedy, nicknamed "the Warrior" by her friends, has battled a rare form of bone cancer for the past two years. She will represent the state in Washington D.C. in the spring of 2011, dining with the President and First Lady, as well as a trip to Disney Land with her family. She will also have the opportunity to make a host of other appearances and speaking engagements around the state. She is very excited and looking forward to meeting other courageous children.
According to her caringbridge.org page (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kennedyelizabeth/journal) "this news and the fact that her counts have been the best they have ever been since starting chemo, this young lady is already celebrating the joys and wonder of Christmas!!!"
She is completing chemo treatments on an outpatient basis at T. C. Thompson Children's Hospital and is scheduled to end her treatments in March. She turned 14 in October and is an 8th grader at Jasper Middle School.
On her Facebook page, Kennedy writes, "Hiya! I'm Kennedy. Right now I only have one guy in my life and that's God. I love Him, I need Him, and He's mine. I had cancer. Now I don't. No need for pity. What happened has happened, now look to the future. I'm strong, determined, competitive, blessed, and most of all happy. I'm happy with what my life is and I'm glad God gave me it."
