CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - New weather charts are coming into the Storm Alert all day long. And interest grows as we get closer to Christmas Day.

There is still a good chance for at least some flurries on Saturday.  One of the computer models is a bit more aggressive with the system as it moves west.

The storm is still along the west coast so it has some time before it makes up its mind.

Snow lovers should hope for a southern track that would take it near the Gulf coast.  If that happens we could see some significant accumulations.

Most of the computer models are taking the storm right over North Georgia.  That would give us just a few dusting to a few flurries.

The table is set and the main ingredients are still in the kitchen.

So now we wait.

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – You may be "dreaming of a white Christmas", but could it really happen in the Chattanooga area?

It just might.

"A winter weather system will develop this week in the Midwest and by Christmas Eve it will get much closer to the Tennessee Valley," says Chief Meteorologist Paul Barys.

Paul has been reviewing his forecasting models for snow this weekend.

"Some of the weather charts are showing a good chance for some light snow falling on Christmas Day and night with temperatures falling though the day."

While the certainty of a White Christmas is solid yet, Paul says you can expect a cold Christmas for sure.

"As of now it looks good for at least some flurries and gusty winds.  But many things can change before this weekend.  So if you get some Christmas mittens and caps they may come in handy!"

Good Thursday.  After a few morning drizzles, the rain chance will really dwindle as we progress through the day.  This afternoon I would expect a lot of clouds, but a rain chance of less than 20%.
