MOWBRAY MOUNTAIN, HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) - A family on Mowbray Mountain will be staying with relatives after their home on Miller County Road catches fire Monday.

A neighbor called 911 to report the blaze at around 2:45 pm.

When firefighters arrived, the garage, a truck, and two homes were fully engulfed with flames.

Mowbray Mountain Assistant Chief, Chris Weddington, said firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire from spreading throughout the rest of the house and a neighboring house.

Fire crews were also able to save the children's Christmas from the fire.

"Everything kind of came together to where it was easy to do that," said Captain Dusten Woodard, "it really didn't put anyone at risk to do that."

Mr. Robert Taylor, the homeowner, was not home at the time. He explained that the fire started in the garage but not sure what could have caused it.

Damages are undetermined but Mr. Taylor's garage, his truck and three rooms in his home were totally destroyed.

Minimum damage was inflicted to the neighbor's house.

No injuries were reported.

An investigation is underway by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office to determine the cause.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist Mr. Taylor and his family, who did not have insurance.
