DALTON, WHITFIELD COUNTY (WRCB) – A Dalton woman who lost $950 at a gas station has a new reason to celebrate Christmas.

A Chattanooga dentist has stepped forward to cover the money Sharon Herrera lost earlier this month at a gas station.

Dr. Stephen Sims, of Chattanooga Family Dentistry on Brainerd Road, says he saw Herrera's story on Channel 3 Eyewitness News Thursday night

On Friday, Dr. Sims contacted the Dalton Police Department to give Herrera the money.

Herrera accidentally dropped an envelope containing $950, which was stolen by an unknown male suspect.

She told Eyewitness News she had taken out a loan to pay for Christmas for her family and a few bills.

Dalton Police say they are still looking for the man who picked up the envelope. Officers say the suspect faces felony theft of mislaid property charges.

The man wore a toboggan hat and wore a heavy dark-colored jacket with white stripes across the shoulders and blue jeans.  He was driving a light blue late 80's or early 90's model Toyota Camry or Corolla.

If you have any information about the suspect, contact the Dalton Police.
