Wreathes Across America: Honoring troops for the holidays

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- A Yearly holiday tradition honored the men and women who have died serving our country.

A ceremony was held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery to pay tribute to the armed forces.

More than 1,400 wreaths were placed by headstones.

Twenty local organizations helped to sponsor this year's "Wreaths Across America".

U.S. Xpress transported the wreaths from Maine to Chattanooga.

"Most of us in our daily lives don't have a lot of exposure to military personnel, and yet they are always there, they are always working, they are always protecting our freedom. This is our chance to honor them," says Major Ron Broach.

Major Broach hopes to one day be able to place a wreath on all 40,000 headstones.
