CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – The man who played a key role in bringing Volkswagen to Chattanooga has officially tendered his resignation letter.

County Mayor Claude Ramsey made his plans official Thursday by handing in the paperwork announcing his resignation on January 11th.

County commissioners have plans in place to post the opening for mayor for three days.

They hope to have a replacement named by December 27th.

Claude Ramsey will join Governor-elect Bill Haslam in Nashville as Chief of Staff and Deputy Governor.
