CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The City of Chattanooga cleared out a homeless camp Thursday morning.
The Broad Street Bridge near the I-24, Highway-27 split was a camp for some homeless people.
Local residents and business owners complained about the site and city leaders said it was unsafe and unhealthy for anyone to live.
Police notified homeless service providers, and worked with the individuals to try and find them a place to stay.
They also gave them time to get their belongings.
The city says it realizes there's no emergency shelter in Chattanooga for the homeless, but they said it was not a dignified way for humans to live.
If you plan on taking a leisurely stroll to burn off your Thanksgiving meal, think again!
