Update: Dalton Police seek suspect in attempted kidnapping

Dalton Police say a man wanted on assault and kidnapping charges, turned himself in Wednesday.

David Burton was wanted for allegedly threatening a teenager with a gun and forcing him into a car.

The victim managed to escape out the car's window.

Investigators believe the incident was related to a fight the day before.


DALTON, GA. (WRCB)-- Dalton Police are looking for a man wanted on several warrants.

Police say 19-year-old David Anthony Burton and two unidentified males approached a teenager on November 18th and attempted to kidnap him at gunpoint. The victim was pulled into Burton's car, but escaped through the window.

Burton is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping, and violation of the Georgia Gang Act. 

His last known address is 186 Terrapin Way in Dalton. 

Burton is a Hispanic male, 5'11" tall, weighing approximately 210 pounds and close-cropped dark hair.

The suspect has several tattoos including the name "Belinda" on the right side of his neck, and red lips on the left side.

He has "David 1973-2000 RIP" tattooed on his left forearm and a woman's face on the front of his left shoulder.
