CSAS bands receive Best Buy/Grammy Foundation grant

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-   The music program at Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences has been selected to receive a $2000 grant from the Grammy Foundation and Best Buy.

Best Buy has partnered with the Grammy Foundation in its goal to draw public attention to the critical importance of maintaining music education as a core element of school curricula. In coordination with their opening of Best Buy Mobile stores across the nation, Best Buy will award a school in each store's area with a grant for music education.

With the opening of the Best Buy Mobile Store in Hamilton Place, Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences is being recognized with this grant. CSAS was recognized in 2000 as a Grammy Signature School, and remains the only school in the area with that distinction. Best Buy manager Zach Turner will present this award to David Butler, Director of Bands at CSAS, and the CSAS Symphonic Band Wednesday at a school-wide assembly. The money will be used to provide new instruments for the band program.
