CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -  The 700 block of Signal Mountain Boulevard was closed Wednesday evening due to a serious traffic involving two vehicles. 

The accident happened just after 5 PM.

According to Chattanooga Police Department Traffic Division investigators, a vehicle exited the K-Mart parking lot at a high rate of speed onto Signal Mountain Boulevard and struck another vehicle. 

After being struck, the second vehicle continued across Signal Mountain Boulevard, down an embankment and into a small creek. 

The first vehicle was driven by Larry Lawrence, age 45.

The second vehicle was driver by Bill Howard, age 48.  Howard was ejected from his vehicle. 

Both drivers were transported to Erlanger Medical Center where they are being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol is a factor in this crash and charges are pending the results of the blood test.
