Haslam makes legal counsel 1st Cabinet appointment
NASHVILLE, TN. (AP) - Republican Gov.-elect Bill Haslam has made his first Cabinet appointment by naming Knoxville attorney Herbert Slatery as his legal counsel.
Slatery is chairman of the law firm Egerton, McAfee, Armistead & Davis, where he has worked for 30 years specializing in private business transactions and local government organizations.
The 58-year-old Slatery was also Haslam's campaign treasurer and the two men have served as elders at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville.
