KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - University of Tennessee Vice Chancellor Buddy Mitchell will serve as interim leader of the Institute of Agriculture.
The appointment comes as current Agriculture Chancellor Joe DiPietro prepares to take the post of president of the UT system.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports this will be the third time Mitchell has been the interim leader of the Agriculture Institute.
He will take over on Jan. 1. DiPietro hopes to name a permanent replacement by July 1.
Mitchell's appointment was announced Friday.
