KNOXVILLE (NBC) - The University of Tennessee unveiled a twice-life sized statue of General Robert Neyland.

The statue will sit at Gate 17 where the team makes its entrance during the Vol Walk. Neyland coached nine undefeated teams at Tennessee in 21 seasons before he served as Athletic Director.

On Thursday, Head Basketball Coach Bruce Pearl told NBC Knoxville he had not yet seen the statue.

"No, no I haven't but I heard it's incredible," Pearl said. "Obviously the renovations to the stadium, I don't care what your expectations were about how nice they could be, there more nice than I ever dreamed they could be. I'm sure the statue of General Neyland is going to mean a lot to a lot of people who have great affection for the history of Tennessee football."

The bronze statue is nine feet tall and weighs over 1200 pounds.
