Vehicular homicide sent to grand jury

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - A case involving a man who was allegedly driving drunk when he hit and killed another man, is going to the grand jury.

Judge Clarence Shattuck set Demario Goodwin's bond at $100,000 Tuesday morning.

Police say he was driving down Hixson Pike in September, when he crossed the center and hit a biker.

Perry Maddux died on the scene.

Goodwin is from Memphis, and several of his family members were in court Tuesday.

Judge Shattuck told Goodwin, he should have paid more attention to their advice.

"I know he has some relatives here. And, I know his mother is here. I wish he'd paid attention to what they told him beforehand, because I'm sure none of these ladies told him to get out and drive under these circumstances," said Judge Clarence Shattauck.

Four months before the September crash, Goodwin was charged with DUI in Red Bank.

He pleaded to that charge Monday night.
