LIVELINES: LEGAL CALLS
The issue of prayer in schools continues to be a hot button issue after a decision last month from school superintendent Dr. Jim Scales that student led prayer was no longer allowed.
This came on the heels of a complaint from a student to the Freedom From Religion organization.
The school system attorney says the system's role is to remain "strictly neutral"... and to stay away from the appearance of endorsing a religion or religious activity.
Attorney Gary Starnes was our guest. He said the school system made the right move from a legal perspective. He also said opponents can fight this ruling, but it could be very costly and lengthy.
