New technology forces local bookstore out of business

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- A downtown Chattanooga business is closing its doors.

Rock Point Books opened four years ago, offering book signings and readings, book clubs, and kids events.

But owners say they couldn't compete with Amazon, Kindle, and other online book sources.

Rock Point will have a closing sale on all books and equipment beginning November 15th.

It will officially close in early December.

The Moonpie General Store located inside Rock Point will move to Clumpies Ice Cream on November 17th.
