SODDY-DAISY, Tenn. (WRCB) -- In a game with variety of storylines, only one mattered.

Soddy-Daisy needed a win to solidify its playoff spot, and Cedric Edwards helped the Trojans get just that in a 42-21 rout of visiting Cleveland in the Friday Night Football Game of the Week.

Edwards put Soddy-Daisy up 7-0 with a two yard run in the first quarter, and the scoreboard remained there until Trevor Card hit Talon Harris late in the second quarter for a 14-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Edwards carried the load to help the Trojans run away in former coach E.K. Slaughter's first visit back to Soddy-Daisy as Cleveland's head coach.

The junior standout carried 30 times and finished with 312 yards and two touchdowns.  He out gained the entire Blue Raider offense by nine yards.

As a team, Soddy-Daisy rushed for 404 yards and threw for another 81.

The Trojans limited Cleveland's Jamarcus Mobley to just 66 yards rushing, and pressured quarterback Chad Voytik into several poor throws.

Both teams are expected to be included in the TSSAA playoff field when the brackets are released Saturday morning. Soddy-Daisy will compete in Class 6A, while Cleveland will be in the 5A field.
