Grand jury intruder arrested in East Tennessee
CHATTANOOGA (AP) - An East Tennessee military retiree charged with intruding on a grand jury that he contends operates unlawfully and has a disqualified foreman has been arrested in Monroe County.
A Monroe County Sheriff's Department employee said 58-year-old Walter Fitzpatrick III of Sweetwater was arrested Wednesday and is in custody.
Special Circuit Judge Jon Blackwood of Knoxville ordered the retired Navy lieutenant commander arrested and held without bond after he failed to attend an Oct. 22 hearing. A trial is set Dec. 1. The judge refused a long-distance, verbal request by Fitzpatrick's Everett, Wash., attorney to withdraw from the case.
Fitzpatrick wants President Barack Obama indicted as an impostor, because of questions about his American citizenship. Documents show the president was born in Hawaii.
