Dalton woman arrested for identity fraud
DALTON, GA. (WRCB)-- The Dalton Police Department arrested Deloris Annette Barnett Tuesday and charged her with 1st degree forgery, financial transaction card fraud, identity fraud, and theft by conversion.
The charges are connected to an investigation into discrepancies with bank accounts and credit card accounts of her former employer, Dalton Family Practice.
Barnett was employed as the practice's office manager.
Barnett is currently free on bond.
The investigation began on August 30th when the owner of Dalton Family Practice contacted the Dalton Police Department after he began to look into money missing from the company's accounts.
He contacted police after finding a credit card had been issued to the company without his knowledge or authorization.
Investigators determined that the card was in Barnett's possession and was being used to make personal purchases.
Investigators also found evidence that Barnett had paid personal expenses with one of the company's checking accounts.
