CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- The Red Cross organization says donations are down but they will still help families in need.

A report released this week shows charitable donations are down 11 percent among national charities.

That's the most significant drop in the past 20 years.

The local Red Cross chapter ended it's fiscal year on June 30th, $100,000 in the hole.

But, leaders say they will deliver services wherever and whenever needed.

"We've had to do a lot of internal cost cutting. We use a lot of volunteer help to the job done and that really helps us extend our dollars," says Claudia Moore, with the Chattanooga Red Cross.

You can make donations to the Red Cross online or at the office on McCallie Avenue.

About 91 cents of every dollar donated goes to humanitarian services.
