EAST RIDGE, TN. (WRCB) -- For the second time in just a week, a child was hit by a car.

A nine year-old girl was hit by a car while on her bike in an East Ridge neighborhood.

It happened Sunday evening on Madonna Avenue.

East Ridge Police say the girl was on a bike when she left a driveway and rolled out into the road.

She was hit by a silver Honda Accord.

The child was not seriously injured, but was taken by ambulance to T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital.

The driver, a 34 year old woman, will likely not face charges.

"There was no opportunity for the driver to stop prior to striking the child," said Erik Hopkins, spokesperson for East Ridge Public Safety, "it didn't appear there was any excess speed."

The case is being investigated as an accident.
