CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Twelve people were sent to the hospital after a collision between a charter bus and a truck.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on I-75 Southbound, just past the Ooltewah exit.

According to witnesses, the charter bus was in the far right lane travelling when the straight truck attempted to change lanes from the middle lane to the far right lane causing it to hit the bus.

Twelve people were taken to Parkridge with minor injuries for examination.

The interstate was shut down for nearly two and half hours while crews worked to remove the two large vehicles from the roadway.

I-75 reopened around 8:30 a.m. and has resumed normal flow.

Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the collision.

A determination on charges will be made after the investigation is complete.
